These Colorado areas will see the most snow on Monday

DENVER (KDVR) — A snowstorm is headed for Colorado. While Denver will only see a few flakes, other areas across the state could see more than half a foot of snow.

Despite the sunny skies over Colorado this past weekend, the Precise weather teams are tracking a storm expected to last until Monday afternoon.

In Denver, temperatures will be above freezing, so the metro could see just a few flakes Monday evening with little to no accumulation. Other areas in the southern half of the state have better chances.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Interstate 25 south of Colorado City and the southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains from Monday afternoon until early Tuesday morning. Spots along I-25 could see three to five inches, but spots above 7,000 feet could see up to 10 inches.

Only light snow is expected to fall across the Front Range, while some mountain towns like Aspen are expected to see as much as four inches.

The Pinpoint Weather team is expecting an inch around Interstate 70 and the Palmer Divide, so if you’re traveling into or out of the mountains on Monday, watch out for slick roads and potential visibility issues.

Less than half a foot of snow is expected to fall across the Front Range, but more snow could stick across the state.

By the end of the snowstorm Monday night, some areas could see as much as 10 inches of snow.

  • Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains: 10 inches

  • Colorado Springs: 5 inches

Skies will clear and the snow will end on Monday. Sunny skies will return for the rest of the week, with no more snow possibilities in the forecast.
