Mets to sign Juan Soto

The biggest story of the offseason has come to a close as the Mets have agreed to a 15-year, $765MM deal with the free agent superstar Juan Sotoaccording to a report from The New York Post’s Jon Heyman. Sore ESPN’s Alden Gonzalezthe agreement does not contain any deferred money. Athletics’ Ken Rosenthal reports that the deal includes a $75MM signing bonus, while Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that Soto’s deal includes an opt-out after the 2029 season.

It’s the largest contract in professional sports history, not only blowing away $461 million. the net present value of the agreement Shohei Ohtani landed with the Dodgers last winter, but even the $700MM sticker price Ohtani signed for before factoring in that deal’s record-breaking deferrals.
