The Merseyside derby has been postponed for safety reasons

This is due to severe weather and strong winds, which have also resulted in serious travel disruption in and around Merseyside.

Following a meeting of the Safety Advisory Group this morning at Goodison Park, attended by officials from both clubs, as well as representatives from Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council, it was decided that due to the risk to safety in the local area and the amber wind warning which remains on space for 06.00 Sunday, today’s match is postponed for security reasons.

We appreciate that this will be deeply disappointing for supporters, but the safety of fans, staff and players is paramount.

Details regarding a rearranged date for the tournament, including ticket sales, will be announced in due course.
