Tennessee-Vanderbilt ‘College GameDay’ predictions: Who picked Vols, Commodores?

8. Tennessee is on the precipice of a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff, with a 9-2 record and No. 8 in the playoff selection committee rankings.

Before they can reach the sport’s biggest stage, however, coach Josh Heupel and the Vols have one final hurdle to clear.

Tennessee makes the short trip west on Saturday to take on Vanderbilt at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville. A victory against Commodores would not only effectively lock up a playoff spot, but it would give the Vols just their second season with at least 10 wins since 2008.

Given the stakes in the game, the play was one of several ESPN’s “College GameDay” picks while broadcast live from outside Kyle Field in College Station, Texas ahead of Saturday night’s meeting between Texas and Texas A&M.
