Live updates, channel for Egg Bowl

OXFORD — Ole Miss football is set to bounce back in its final game. That chance comes at home on senior day in the Egg Bowl.

No. 16 Rebels (8-3, 4-3 SEC) host Mississippi State (2-9, 0-7) at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Friday (2:30 p.m., ABC). Aside from the game’s enduring importance as a rivalry, it has postseason significance. Although it diminished significantly after an upset loss at Florida, Miss Ole‘ College Football Playoff aspirations haven’t been completely extinguished. The Rebels are no. 14 in the latest CFP rankings.

Star Ole Miss receiver Tre Harris is back on the Egg Bowl’s injury report. He left before halftime of the Rebels’ loss to Florida last week. Harris will not play against Mississippi State.

Ole Miss reaching the College Football Playoff would require some upsets, but starts with the Rebels beating Mississippi State. Although the Bulldogs have struggled mightily in Jeff Lebby’s first year as coach, other first-year head coaches have had success in the Egg Bowl.
