Shedeur Sanders wins 2024 Johnny Unitas Award

BOULDER — A historic season for CU Buffs football added another layer of history Friday when quarterback Shedeur Sanders was named the winner of the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Sanders, a senior who played his final home game as a Buff against Oklahoma State on Friday morning, is the first CU signal caller to ever win the award, which is presented by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation to the college football QB “who best exemplifies character, scholastic and athletic achievement,” according to a CU news release.

Sanders entered Friday’s game having thrown for 3,448 yards with 30 touchdowns and seven interceptions while also pacing CU in rushing touchdowns (four).
