WATCH: Ana Gasteyer, Molly Shannon reprise SNL’s ‘Delicious Dish’ in Capital One ad spots

Thaw Saturday Night Live stars have taken one of their signature sketches to the bank — literally.

Former cast members Molly Shannon and Ana Gasteyer have reprized their characters from the late ’90s recurring sketch “The Delicious Dish” for a new set of ads for Capital One.

Fictional NPR hosts Margaret Jo McCollen (Gasteyer) and Teri Rialto (Shannon) returned in two commercials that debuted during SNL‘s primetime Thanksgiving special on Wednesday night. In one spot, Shannon and Gasteyer’s characters interview Capital One spokesman Samuel L. Jackson, who touts the bank’s Savor credit card and, of course, his own double dish: his “sweet, buttery buns.”

In another ad, the duo features Jeremy Brandt – also known as “The Capital One Guy” – who is unfortunately not equipped with a euphemistic pun.

The “Delicious Dish” sketches were passed on Saturday Night Live 14 times between 1996-2002. The duo made one final appearance in 2010 when Shannon and Gasteyer returned to the show to do the sketch with host Betty White. But it was the ninth installment of the sketch that is best remembered — it was when host Alec Baldwin threw his “Schweddy balls” in December 1998.

At the end of September, Capital One was announced as one of SNL‘s anchor sponsors for the show’s milestone 50th season, joining brands such as T-Mobile, CeraVe, Volkswagen of America, Maybelline NY and Allstate. (Current SNL writers and part-time artists Please Don’t Destroy just debuted their own ad for Allstate under a new section of SNL two weeks ago.)
