How To Get Fortnite’s Free Juice WRLD Skin, Live Now, Kind Of

This article was published on 25/11 and republished on 26/11.

Ahead of this Saturday’s Juice WRLD tribute concert, Fortnite is giving away a free “Slayer” Juice WRLD skin plus back bling, a pickaxe and wallpaper that you can claim right now. You can do that requirements it, you can’t actually use it. Yeah, it’s weird.

What happens for some reason is that Fortnite has set this up so if you log in now you will be eligible for the Juice WRLD skin which will then be delivered to you the next day. In this case, if you log in now, it will appear tomorrow when you log in again.

This offer is available for five days until 10 PM ET on Saturday, November 30, and then you can’t get it anymore, and it’s unknown if it will be sold at any point in the future.

It’s very strange that they do it this way instead of just giving it to players at login, I have no idea what the plan is here or why they would distribute it this way, but for those who knew the skin dropped on November 25th today I can understand why you would be confused. As far as I can see there isn’t even some kind of indicator when you log in that you are now eligible for next day skin delivery.

This is one of two Juice WRLD skins arriving at the event, which is Saturday, November 30 at 14 A.M. The other is to be sold in the shop, and is not a cell-shaded version, but rather one that looks like the giant Juice WRLD you can already see on the map. I wonder where the profits from that skin are going, hopefully to his family? It’s certainly an unusual situation, but here’s how Fortnite broke the show when it was announced for the Remix Finals:

“Chapter 2 Remix ends on a special note – watch the Remix: The Finale live event on November 30 at 14:00 ET! To honor Juice’s legacy and love of Fortnite, all players who log in between 1 a.m. ET on November 30 and 1 a.m. ET on December 1st, receive the cel-shaded Slayer Juice WRLD Outfit*. Stay tuned for more details celebrating Juice WRLD and Remix: The Finale later this month.”

As you can see, the old blog post said that the Slayer skin was supposed to be delivered on the day, but that has since been changed to this five-day login system, according to Epic. This seems like a bit of a cluster, but the point is, if you log in now, you’ll get the skin. Just not that moment.

Update (26/11): So it’s much easier to claim your skin the first time you log in a second time, as it will just be the first thing that pops up when you open the game. You can claim everything there, which includes the skin, back bling, dual blades, and actually four wallpapers, not just one like I originally thought.

Again, I have no idea why Epic distributes the skin this way, but it seems to be the case that claiming it and then waiting until “tomorrow” actually waits until the item store resets at night. It’s good if you claim it before then, but bad if you claim it that night, as you then have to wait a full 24 hours for another reset, it seems. Maybe it’s a technical problem? I’m not sure, but it still seems weird.

I’d expect you’ll see a fair amount of players wearing this skin for the show considering it’s free and themed, which will be cool to see. Saturday is fast approaching.
