Dancing with the Stars live scores: Updated results and highlights from the 2024 DWTS finals

After months of hard-fought competition, it’s time to announce the winner of Dancing with the Stars. Five pairings got their chance to dance at the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy on Tuesday.

In last week’s semi-finals, the couples were tasked with preparing a ballroom and a Latin dance each to a style and song of their choice. Former Bachelor leader Joey Graziadei earned his first perfect score of the season with an impressive foxtrot performance, while Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik sank to the bottom of the rankings with a cha-cha that fell short.

Amidst the heated elimination, hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough announced that they would be sending all five couples to the finals. This choice follows suit with the show’s 32nd season, but bucks DWTS’ usual trend of keeping only four contestants for the finale.

In the final episode, stars will perform a redemption dance to a style they previously learned in competition and a highly anticipated freestyle routine. Results from the semi-finals carry over to Tuesday’s final.

Here are the live scores and results from the DWTS Season 33 finale.

How does the Dancing with the Stars scoring work?

The show’s scoring is divided into two categories: Judges and Audience. During the episode, the three judges each give the dancers a score from 1 to 10.

This season, Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli return as judges. Before the audience votes, the judges give the dancers a maximum of 30 points. There are some guest judge appearances and their votes are also out of 10. When a guest judge is included, the maximum points go up to 40.

This is where the scoring can get confusing. It’s not exactly the number of points a dance gets, but how that number compares to the total number of votes the judges gave. Let’s say the judges award 100 points throughout the round; Dancer A gets 10 and Dancer B gets 20. Before the audience’s votes are tallied, Dancer A will have 10 percent of the judges’ votes and Dancer B 20 percent.

Let’s say Dancer A got 35 percent of the public vote and Dancer B only got five percent. Dancer A’s final score would be 45 percent of the vote, and Dancer B would have received 40 percent. In this example, Dancer A would advance and Dancer B would be eliminated.

Scoring is the percentage of judges’ votes added to the percentage of audience votes for an overall score.

How to vote on Dancing with the Stars

You can cast your vote for your favorite dancers either via the ABC website or text messages. A number will pop up on the screen during the broadcast and you can text the dancer’s first name to that number to register a vote.

Normally, you are limited to casting up to five votes or the number of remaining contestants, whichever is greater. This year you get 10 votes per competitor, per voting method.

Voting is only live during the original DTWS broadcast in the ET/CT slot.
