These are the kind of popcorn buckets that could easily double as the coolest candy container ever when Halloween rolls around next year. The official synopsis for Nosferatu describes it as “A gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the fearsome vampire who is in love with her, causing unimaginable horror in the aftermath.” Yes, that sounds nicely in line with the original as well as with Bram Stoker Dracula, which FW Murnau illegally copied back in 1922. It was so illegal, in fact, that Stoker’s widow ordered all copies of the copyright-infringing film destroyed. Fortunately for the world, one survived. The undead are hard to kill, yes.

Starring Count Orlock Nosferatu is Bill Skarsgård, no stranger to wearing sharp teeth on film after playing Pennywise. The rest of Robert Eggers’ very impressive cast before Nosferatu includes Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney and Willem Dafoe. Willem Dafoe interestingly played a version of Nosferatu in the 2000 cult film Shadow of the Vampirewhich earned him an Oscar nomination. It’s a hard film to track down these days for reasons unknown, but very much worth seeing. Nosferatu will be in theaters on Christmas Day, and tickets are already on sale.
