When is “Moana 2” coming to Disney+? – What’s happening on Disney Plus

This Thanksgiving, Disney continues its tradition of releasing an all-new animated classic, and this year it’s the turn of “Moana 2,” a sequel to the hit 2016 film that told the story of Moana, daughter of Chief Tui, who embarks on a journey to return the heart of the goddess Te Fitti of Maui, a demigod, after the plants and fish on her island begin to die due to a disease.

In the sequel, set three years later, Moana embarks on an extensive new voyage with a crew of unlikely sailors. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the distant seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever experienced.

The film stars Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson as Moana and Maui. The film also features returning stars Rachel House (Moana’s grandmother, Tala), Temuera Morrison (Moana’s father, Chief Tui) and Nicole Scherzinger (Moana’s mother, Sina), as well as the voices of Hualālai Chung, David Fane and Rose Matafeo as Moana. new crew members respectively Moni, Kele and Loto. Awhimai Fraser voices the mysterious new character Matangi; Gerald Ramsey plays Moana’s ancestor, Tautai Vasa; and Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda voices Moana’s adoring and adorable little sister, Simea.

It has been directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller, and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, Moana 2 features music by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa’i and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.

When is “Moana 2” coming to Disney+?

Currently, no official Disney+ release date has been announced yet.

As with other big tentpole releases from Disney like “Inside Out 2” and “Deadpool & Wolverine,” expect this film to follow in their footsteps with an extended stay in theaters during the holiday season.

Based on some other major Disney theatrical releases, I don’t see “Moana 2” arriving on digital platforms to purchase for a few months and finally arriving on Disney+ at least 100 days after its theatrical release, possibly even longer. Recently, “Inside Out 2” took 103 days to go from a theatrical release to Disney+, and “Deadpool & Wolverine” was 110 days.

As an educated guess, I’d be surprised if “Moana 2” arrived on Disney+ before March 2025.
