Reports of Microsoft Outlook and Teams outages spiked Monday

Some office workers who rely on Microsoft Outlook and related productivity apps like Teams found those programs knocked down by outages early Monday. Reports on outcomes with Outlook.com spiked on Downdetector with more than 6,800 reported occurrences. (Downdetector is owned by CNET parent Ziff Davis.) Microsoft’s Teams service, which offers video chat and calendar features, also had some reports of downtime, but only a few hundred.

A representative for Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

On X, the company’s Outlook account reported that Microsoft was working on a fix and that by late morning “the fix has reached approximately 90% of affected environments and our targeted reboot continues to progress.”

In another answer, the account told an affected user“We apologize for the inconvenience. Our team is aware of the issue and is actively working on a solution.” There was no time estimate for when the problem could be fully resolved.

Given the short holiday work week, some frustration (or excitement) that work apps are unavailable is understandable.

A user wrote“You’ve all been sending newsletters too hard for Microsoft Outlook’s heart to take,” while said another“It’s both terrifying AND glorious to have Outlook 365 go offline while you’re at work!”

Someone else might have talked too much: “Teams and Outlook outage at work today with no ETA on restoration…my longest yeah boy ever”.
