Staten Island HS football: Curtis steamrollers South Shore to earn spot in PSAL 4A title game

Just five days after Thanksgiving, Curtis welcomed South Shore to his St. George home and offered the Brooklynites (9-0 PSAL, 9-2 overall) a seat at the grown-up table. It appeared the Vikings, who had not faced any of the other three PSAL AAAA semifinalists during their undefeated league season, were not ready for the promotion as Curtis, (11-1, 10-0) behind a swarming defense and two touchdowns by Quadare Gomez, ended the visitors’ season with a 28-0 rout on Saturday that extended their winning streak to 11 games.

The win catapults the Warriors into the PSAL title game next Sunday at Midwood Field in Brooklyn, where they will face five-time defending champion Erasmus Hall, who came from behind to eliminate Tottenville in the other semifinal, 46-40. Curtis came out of the regular season meeting between the two schools with a hard-fought 10-7 victory.
