Saquon Barkley has an eye-popping 302-yard game for the Eagles

As the Giants season descends further into despair, Saquon Barkley continues his career season with his new team.

The former Giants running back helped the Eagles to a 37-20 victory Sunday night, finishing the game with 302 total yards in another impressive performance.

Barkley had 255 yards on the ground alone — a new career high — and scored two rushing touchdowns, marking the second straight game he’s had multiple TDs and the fourth time this season he’s done it.

His rushing total Sunday night was also an Eagles single-game record.

The back brought his season total to 1,392 rushing yards, which is also a new career best. The Giants, who fell to 2-9 with an ugly 30-7 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday, have rushed for a total of 1,275 yards this season.

Barkley’s explosiveness was on full display with his two touchdown runs coming in the second half of the Eagles’ victory.

His first rushing touchdown came in the third quarter when he burst through a hole, outran several Ram defenders and then sprinted down the right side of the field 70 yards into the end zone.

His second touchdown of the night came in similar fashion, with the running back finding a hole and bursting through with speed, easily dodging Rams defenders to run 72 yards into the end zone.

– The guys up front did an excellent job. We went into the half knowing … the run game was going to open up, so continue to trust the scheme,” Barkley said after the game. “Trust those guys and they make me look a lot better.”

Barkley’s season has been markedly different than what has happened on I-95 with the Giants, who had just 245 yards of total offense Sunday in a loss to the Buccaneers.

“I got a fresh start,” Barkley said of the fun he’s having this season. “I’m around a great group of guys. The whole organization is great from top to bottom and welcomed me with open arms. I’m having fun and I’m ready to go out there and continue to play at a high level.”
