2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix race start video: Enjoy the race start in Vegas as George Russell takes the lead and Charles Leclerc jumps to P2

Mercedes’ George Russell was pitch perfect in his launch from pole position as the Las Vegas Grand Prix got under way, holding the lead into Turn 1 as Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc jumped from P4 to P2.

As the second ever Las Vegas Grand Prix began, there was far less controversy than in the race’s first run in 2023, when all the drivers made it around the 1st lap.

Leclerc managed his start from P4 on the grid and judged the grip perfectly at turns 1-3 to slide past the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and his Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz to take P2.

Meanwhile, two of the toughest racers on the grid – RB’s Liam Lawson and Haas’ Kevin Magnussen – enjoyed a thrilling battle as they dueled for positions outside the top 10. Title rivals Max Verstappen and Lando Norris held on to their starting positions of P5 and P6 – with Norris needing to overtake Verstappen by three points to keep the title race alive.
