Alabama vs Oklahoma: Open thread in 2nd half

In no way, shape, or form does Alabama deserve to play for any kind of postseason honors. The first half of this game was one of the most abysmal performances I have seen in a long time. The game plan was atrocious, the players were unfocused and virtually no one was doing anything useful.

For some reason, the Tide decided running the QB power over and over was the only play in their offensive playbook, and it netted them about -12 yards on 10 carries once you factor in the hold call on the last give-up drive. This despite Oklahoma’s defense shutting down several rushing QBs this season while being vulnerable to passes downfield.

Meanwhile, the Sooners just ran the QB off-tackle and shoveled passes all half, moving the ball pretty much at will without having to attempt the forward pass. Maligned QB Jackson Arnold has nearly doubled his season rushing yardage in one half, and Alabama’s defense has been completely mystified by how to stop QB runs.

Oh, and player James Burnip decided it was a good time to play the worst game of his life.

Luckily Oklahoma dropped a wide open TD pass, missed an easy field goal and also fumbled in the red zone or it would be 21-3 right now.

Just unconscionably bad from the entire Alabama program, and unless they really turn it around in the second half, this is a season-ender.
