Metro Boomin and Future Address Drake Beef

Metro Boomin has revealed that a “personal issue” was the reason behind the beef between him and Drake, which resulted in several diss tracks and even the involvement of Kendrick Lamar.

TIDAL’s Elliott Wilson took to social media to share snippets of Metro and Futures GQ cover story in which the pair addressed the feud from their own perspectives. “Me and (Drake), we had a personal problem, and for the record, not over no girl or anything stupid like that,” he told GQ’s Frazier Tharpe, but did not elaborate on the alleged issue. “It was a personal issue that really hurt me and disappointed me. But if you take all the rap entertainment out of it, it’s like, have you ever been really cool with somebody and you all fell out over something? It happens every day. It’s just plain shit. This just happens to have an audience.”

The producer further clarified that he and Future did not collaborate on theirs WE DON’T BELIEVE YOU album series with the intention of starting a war with Drizzy, “People really think we sat for two years and made two albums (to be) like, Yo, f*ck this guy. What’s this?” Young Metro continued, “Do you really think we’re going to spend this much time, effort, resources just trying to get somebody on one album? Blowing budgets on two albums – going over budget? That’s some serious hate . None of us rock like that.”

Despite the personal issues between them, however, Boomin expressed regret for some hurtful words about Drake that he shared publicly on X: “Now I had my moment online, which I regret. I should have been stronger than that. It was out out of character for me But at a certain point it’s like I don’t rap bro so you just wanna hit me on all these songs (…) I don’t get in the booth so I I can make up to tweet at you.”

While Metro was more open about his side of the beef, Future played it cool. “Was there a beef?” he said, “I didn’t even know there was beef. I didn’t even know they had nothing going on. I’ve never been in rap battles, man.” He was more verbal about being left out of the “big three” lineup on “First Person Shooter,” with J. Cole claiming that only he, Drizzy and Kendrick Lamar occupied those spots. “I have to be the one who gets mad; I’m still confused about that,” Future replied. “Nobody cares what I think. That’s what was so damn about the shit. To the point where I’m so game that I haven’t even said anything to the public about how I feel about it. Like , why is everybody mad when he talked about me on my song? So you guys just forgot about me, I’m not part of the big three, I’m nobody on my song, man.”
