She ‘never gave us credit’

The actress is mother to daughter Apple, 20, and son Moses, 18, who she shares with ex-husband Chris Martin

Gwyneth Paltrow may have found inspiration for her daughter’s name when she was working on Shallow Hal.

Wednesday 20 November Shallow Hal film producers, Bobby and Peter Farrelly, made guest appearances on The Jess Cagle Show. The brothers discussed the movie, starring Jack Black and Paltrow, and co-host Julia Cunningham pointed out an interesting connection between Peter’s 22-year-old daughter and Paltrow’s 20-year-old daughter: they are both named Apple.

“You have a daughter who is an up-and-coming actress, and I was shocked to see that her name is Apple — possibly the original Apple,” Cunningham shared. “I thought, that name seeped into Gwyneth Paltrow’s brain along the way Shallow Hal?”

“Apple was a baby when we made Shallow Hal,” Peter said of his daughter, joking that “Gwyneth never gave us credit for it.”

In addition to Apple, the actress is also the mother of a son Moses18, which she shares with ex-husband Chris Martin.

In October, the Goop founder opened up about how her life has changed since both her children left the nest during a Q&A session on her Instagram Stories. When Apple and Moses were in college, a fan asked, “What’s life like as a free bird?”

“Thanks for asking,” the actress replied in a video. “It’s very different. I have waves of sadness and sadness.”

However, she said that she has also found positive things in her children being away at college.

“I’m kind of getting in touch with this part of myself that I haven’t wanted to since I was in my 20s, before I had kids,” Paltrow explained. “Like a little more space and imagination, maybe. A little more inner space for what I’d like to do that day, that sort of thing.”

“So, it’s evolving. It’s interesting,” she added.

Paltrow attended another Instagram Stories Q&A in July, where she posted both a sweet snap of herself with Apple and Moses and some thoughts on the qualities of those she loves and cares about.

In response to a follower who asked Paltrow for her “last picture with Moses,” the actress posted a sweet summery photo of herself standing between her two children on a path surrounded by greenery.

“I think my kids both know themselves very well, and that’s a quality about them that I both love and admire,” she said. “And I guess one thing I worry about for both of them is anxiety. This is, as we know, the anxious generation. So that’s probably what I worry about.”
