W.Va. schools announce delays due to winter weather

Several counties have announced delays and closures for Friday due to winter weather, officials said.

Schools in Mingo, Boone, Logan and Clay counties will be on a two-hour delay on Friday, while Nicholas will be on a three-hour delay and Braxton County, according to West Virginia Department of Education. Pike County and Floyd County, Kentucky schools will also be closed.

The delays come as icy conditions are expected following the drop in temperature and snow that swept parts of the state on Thursday evening.

Meanwhile, Fayette, Raleigh, Wyoming, Webster and McDowell counties also faced delays, while Preston, Tucker and Marion announced school closures.
