Rev. Fr. Leonard DESJARDINS | Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we announce that Fr. Leonard Desjardins at age 65 on November 15, 2024. He is reunited with his loving parents, Ervin “Pete” Desjardins (October 31, 2024) and Lucille Blanche (nee Mailloux) (1979).

Deeply adored by his sisters and brothers Patricia (Jim) Anger, Karen, the late Mike (2015), Doug (Laurie), Lisa (Tom) Rindlisbacher, Laurie (the late Ron) McCollom. Forever loved by his loving nieces and nephews.

A man of deep faith, he served in many parishes throughout the Diocese of London, serving as priest of St. Mary of Perpetual Help, (Hessin ON), Sacred Heart (Sarnia), Precious Blood Parish (Exeter ON), Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish (Mount Carmel, ON), and as administrator of St. Michael Parish (Bright’s Grove, ON) he was Associate Pastor at Blessed Sacrament Parish, (Chatham ON), Most Precious Blood (Windsor), St. Theresa Parish (Windsor), Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish (Windsor), St. Cyril and Methodius Parish (Windsor).

A person of many talents such as quilt making, guitar playing, singing, sewing and theatrical set design. Len has received awards for his involvement with Stratford Theatre.

Len has redefined resilience and courage while enduring his battle with IPF. Through strength, faith and determination, he made the most of his time back with us.

The siblings would like to extend a special thank you to all family and friends for their continued support during this journey. Leonard often expressed his deep appreciation for Allan at ProResp. Thanks also to Dr. Rukavina to honor Leonard’s end-of-life wishes.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel – Banwell Chapel (11677 Tecumseh Rd. E) on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from until and at until A Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Anne’s Parish on Friday 22 November 2024, where the visitation will continue from 10:00 until fair time at date. If you wish, memorial donations can be made in Fr. Leonard’s honor may be given to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
