Ahem,’Evil” moviegoers. There’s no need to flex those vocal cords until you go to the movies this week.

Break out your best pink ensemble. Paint yourself green.

But resist the urge to turn watching the film adaptation of the Broadway musical into a sing-a-long — at least at AMC Theaters.

Singing is on the list of no-nos for patrons in the theater, according to an ad appearing in the run-up to the Nov. 22 release of part one of the anticipated blockbuster.

AMC Theaters runs down the rules in an advisory with scenes from the upcoming film.

“At AMC Theaters, silence is golden,” says the 30-second advisory. “No talking. No texting. No singing. No whining. No flirting. And absolutely no naming. Enjoy the magic of movies.”

The spot is an example of the occasional policy reminder tailored to a specific movie, AMC spokesman Ryan Noonan said in an email to IndyStar.

“AMC has a longstanding policy prohibiting disruptive behavior,” he said. “The WICKED preshow spot incorporates the film’s themes as a fun, engaging reminder to moviegoers not to disrupt the experience of those around them while enjoying the show.”

Kansas-based AMC, the world’s largest movie theater chain, issued guidelines ahead of the concert films “The Eras Tour” and “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé.”

Guests could sing and dance during these screeningsbut they were asked to avoid dancing on seats or blocking the view of other guests. For the Renaissance release, they were also asked not to shoot the film and advised to remove any part of their outfits that might block the screen from other patrons, and were reminded that masks not worn for health and safety reasons were forbidden in the theatre.

Enforcement of the policy may vary from location to location.

“In past movies, we’ve had people singing and dancing and then it gets loud in there,” said Izzy Stewart, a supervisor at AMC Castleton Square 14, 6020 E. 82nd, Indianapolis. “If there’s a little girl singing and stuff, it’s not a big deal. But if somebody’s running out and everybody can’t hear… We’re lenient when it comes to certain circumstances. “
