SoCon Announces Volleyball Players of the Week

SPARTANBURG, SC – Freshman outside hitter Allie cute of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team was named the Southern Conference (SoCon) Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

The last time a Spartan earned a weekly honor was when Sweet won SoCon Offensive Player of the Week back on Sept. 2.

“I am so grateful to be named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for the second time,” Sweet said. “I couldn’t have done it without my teammates.”

The Woodstock, Georgia, native led the Spartans with 40 kills and added three service aces and 22 digs on the week. She averaged 5.71 kills per game. set, 3.14 digs per set and 6.21 points per sets across seven sets played. The freshman posted her third double-double of the season against Western Carolina on Saturday night with 23 kills and 13 digs.

Sweet leads the SoCon in six statistical categories: attacks per set (13.73), kills per set (4.30), points (465.5), points per sets (4.85), total attacks (1,318) and total kills (413).

In addition, she stands out nationally in second place in attacks per set, third in overall attack, 18th total kills and 21St in points.
