ForbesToday’s NEW ‘Connections’ tip and answer for Monday 18 November

Hey there! I hope your week is off to a good start.

I’m looking again at the list of games I hope to play before I compile my annual Game of the Year list, and it’s getting more and more daunting. It’s probably time to start collecting some titles from the list that I’m less sure I’ll get to – and maybe actually play more stuff instead of further rotting my brain with endless social media fluff. I really have to go through Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and a few other things on Game Pass before my subscription expires next week.

In any case! Today’s NEW Connections tips and answers for Tuesday, November 19 will come right up.

How Connections plays

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on NEW website or game app.

You are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by finding out the connections between them. The groups can be things like clickable items, names of research study participants, or words with a body part in front.

There is only one solution to each puzzle and you have to be careful when it comes to words that can fit into more than one category. You can mix up the words to perhaps help you see connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest. The purple group often involves puns.

Choose four words that you think fit together and press send. If you guess and you’re wrong, you lose a life. If you’re close to having a correct group, you may see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with some tips and if you’re really struggling, today’s is Connections answer. As with Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chat.

If you have one NEW Free access or Spil subscription you can access Connections file. This includes all previous games of Connectionsso you can go back and play any of them you missed.

Apart from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find my tips for each grid via Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query.

What are today’s connections answers?

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll down the page any further until you’re ready to find out about today Connections answer.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Connections the answers are…

  • Yellow group — area of expertise (CONCENTRATION, FIELD, FOCUS, SPECIALTY)
  • Green group — ways to unlock a device (face, fingerprint, password, PIN)
  • Blue group — pasta shapes (EAR, ELBOW, RIBBON, WHEEL)
  • Purple group — double _____ (AGENT, DRIBBLE, JEOPARDY, STANDARD)

Not a perfect game, but today’s game marks a threepeat. Another streak is coming, y’all. Here’s how I managed:

Alas, JEOPARDY, WHEEL, PASSWORD, and CONCENTRATION did not form a group, nor was I away from a collective of game shows.

I then tried a guess at PASSWORD, FACE, FINGERPRINT and EAR for authentication methods. I was aware that ears are unique and can be used for verification purposesbut I was one away from a group. Of course PIN was the missing fourth word to give me the greens.

The yellows, in retrospect, were pretty obvious and I got them next. I was kind of lucky with the blues. I figured WHEEL was a reference to the knee and RIBBON was the only other thing that made sense as a term for a joint. At least I figured out the purple connection before I sealed the win.

PS One of my bucket list bands that I loved as a kid and still (realistically) haven’t seen live is Deftones. The first few albums were great and I don’t think I’ve ever heard a bad song from them.

Unfortunately they are not visiting my city on their early 2025 tour and I have a bunch of other shows close to home around that time so I probably won’t be traveling to see them this time. In any case, I’ll be vibrating to their timeless, melodic, experimental metal all day long:
