Dallas Weather: Storms bring rain, gusty winds to North Texas during morning commute

Severe thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 65 mph moved through Dallas-Fort Worth Monday morning.

We are starting to get some reports of wind damage from this morning’s shower line.

FOX 4 viewer Tim Money shared a photo of his storage shed on top of his neighbor’s house in the Arlington/Mansfield area.

The Sheriff’s Office in Somervell County, southwest of Fort Worth, is reporting several incidents caused by high winds. At least one of these incidents involves an overturned RV.

Wind was the main concern with this morning’s shower line. The strongest reported gust was 66 mph in McKinney.

The line of storms is now moving east of the Metroplex. Severe thunderstorm warningp for the area has expired. Skies should begin to clear by noon, according to the FOX 4 Weather team.

Another overturned 18-wheeler is causing traffic problems on southbound Interstate 35E near Cowling Road in Denton.

A strong gust of wind may have caused an 18-wheeler to flip onto its side on westbound Interstate 635 at Valley View Road.

The accident is causing major traffic delays in the area.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for southern Collin County until 6 p.m. 10:00 a.m

Here’s a quick look at driving conditions as storms hit the DFW Metroplex.

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued for southeast Tarrant County and southwest Dallas County until 8 p.m. 9.30

The primary threat is wind gusts up to 65 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong gusts and thunderstorms are expected to move through Dallas-Fort Worth Monday morning.

The line of storms is expected to remain west of the metroplex in the early morning hours before moving into the DFW area around 8 p.m. 8:00 a.m. The storms will pass through the region until around 10.00 before they clear up.

Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are expected. FOX 4 weather experts advise residents to avoid parking under trees during this time.

There is a low risk of tornadoes in the northern counties of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but most of the concerns are north near Oklahoma.

By noon Monday, skies should clear and temperatures will return to normal, staying near 70 degrees for the rest of the day.

Tuesday is expected to be sunny with drier air and temperatures in the low 70s ahead of the next cold front.

Highs for the next few days will remain in the 60s with sunny conditions. Thursday morning is expected to be the coldest, with temperatures near 40 degrees in urban areas and dipping into the 30s in outlying areas.

Sunny weather and temperatures in the 70s are likely to return this weekend.
