De’Aaron Fox’s historic performance leads to another honor and Kings franchise record

De’Aaron Fox’s record-setting performances were enough to gain national recognition.

The NBA named Fox the Western Conference Player of the Week on Monday, two days after he set a Sacramento Kings franchise record with 109 points over two nights against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday and the Utah Jazz on Saturday.

Fox became just the third player in NBA history to score at least 109 points over two days, joining Kobe Bryant (2007) and Wilt Chamberlain, who did it 15 times.

Fox over four games last week averaged 40.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists and two steals, greatly aided by his 60- and 49-point performances against Minnesota and Utah. He shot 57.4% from the field, 57.1% from 3-point range and 81% from the free throw line.

“Just being able to get downhill and touch the paint has done wonders,” Fox said after Saturday’s double-digit second-half comeback. “And when you’re able to get one, to the rim; two, get to the free throw line; and three, you can still create for your teammates. So (I try to) just emphasize that.”

It is the sixth time Fox has won conference player of the week, surpassing DeMarcus Cousins for the most times in franchise history with five. Fox led the league in total points (162), points per game. game, made field goals (58), free throws (34) and clutch points (21).

Fox, who turns 27 next month, is one of four players averaging 28.0 points, five rebounds and five assists while shooting at least 50% from the floor with a true shooting percentage of 60.0% or higher .

The Kings (8-6) hosted the Atlanta Hawks on Monday and do not play again until they travel to Los Angeles to play the Clippers on Friday.
