Man City star Jack Grealish says goodbye in a new message and hits out at the manager

Man City star Jack Grealish has taken a subtle dig at former England manager Gareth Southgate as he sent a message to Lee Carsley after his interim spell ended.

The City winger hailed Carsley for “bringing back the enjoyment in an England shirt”, in what was a thinly veiled swipe at the previous regime.

Grealish had been left out of the 26-man squad for Euro 2024 last summer when Southgate chose to select other players.

The 29-year-old had scored just three goals and provided three assists in 36 appearances in all competitions for City last season, which ultimately proved insufficient to convince Southgate to select him.

Grealish has publicly admitted he did not agree with Southgate’s decision, but Carsley brought him back into the squad in September.

The struggling winger had been selected for Carsley’s final camp, but Grealish was one of nine players to end up pulling out of the squad.

England is ready to usher in a new era

Carsley enjoyed six games in charge of the Three Lions, winning five and losing one as he guided the team to win their Nations League group.

England earned promotion back to League A in the competition, but now the team is entering a new era as Thomas Tuchel takes charge in January.

The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss will be the man responsible for picking the next squad, giving Grealish a new manager to impress.

Grealish has failed to open his account for City this season in his 10 appearances in all competitions, but he has provided two assists.

Throughout his English career, Grealish has played 39 games, scored four goals and provided eight assists.
