A large piece of metal falls from the roof of AT&T Stadium before the Texans-Cowboys game

A large piece of metal, along with some debris, fell from the roof of AT&T Stadium as it opened hours before Monday night’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans.

There were no injuries and the roof was subsequently closed and will remain as such for the match.

“We can confirm that a piece of metal came loose and fell to the field (with some additional debris) while the roof was in the process of opening,” the Cowboys said in a statement. “There were no injuries. It is being reviewed further and a decision will be made as to whether the roof can be safely reopened.”

AT&T Stadium is a retractable roof arena located in Arlington, Texas, and has been the home of the Cowboys since its completion in the spring of 2009.

Nicknamed “Jerry World” in reference to stadium owner and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, AT&T Stadium seats 80,000 for football games.

The Texans (6-4) and Cowboys (3-6) are scheduled to start at 8:15 PM ET.
