Spirit Airlines (SAVE) urges customers to keep flying through bankruptcy

Spirit Airlines Inc. told customers on Monday that they should continue to feel confident booking flights “now and in the future,” despite the airline’s bankruptcy filing.

The U.S. carrier filed for Chapter 11 protection in New York on Monday to restructure $1.6 billion in debt after struggling to overcome mounting losses and failed merger attempts, according to court documents. The company said it plans to cede control to its bondholders. Its shares will be delisted.
