NFL Insider confirms NFC franchises sentiment on Jim Harbaugh as LA Chargers face Joe Burrows Bengals

Firing Brandon Staley was probably the best decision Los Angeles Chargers train last year. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t have done so well. of course, Jim Harbaugh is a big reason for the success of the franchise. But do you know the healthiest thing about him? He makes the players feel like they are the most important people in the world.

Maybe that’s why the LA football team felt outmatched when they made a complete mockery of Joe Burrow and his Cincinnati Bengals in the first half. The Bolts’ defense was just as ferocious as Justin Herbert’s offense. The Chargers have won most of their games with two-score leads. Seeing that kind of production from Harbaugh’s team has made many GMs regret the decision not to hire him when they had the opportunity.

Don’t take that away from us though. Take it from FOX’s NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, who got a text from an NFC GM who definitely had FOMO about not nabbing Jim Harbaugh. Per Schutz’s post on X, “Text from an NFC GM: ‘The amount of regret some teams have for not hiring Jim Harbaugh when they had the chance… It’s very real.’

Some sources suggested that Harbaugh may have talked to the Bears since they were the team that initially targeted him in the NFL. But it came to nothing. But things got crazier when the Chargers head coach helped his alma mater, Michigan, win a championship game. Everyone flocked to hire him after that.

As of January 15, 2024, four NFC teams had a head coaching job: Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders. All those teams, except the Commanders, might be punching the air right now not to move quickly on Jim Harbaugh.

To that end, let’s talk about what happened in the game against the Bengals.

Jim Harbaugh’s Chargers upset the Chargers

The Chargers’ defense only allowed the Cincinnati Bengals to score two field goals in the first half. It was unreal to see Justin Herbert throw back-to-back touchdowns and make close throws. The Chargers resisted the image of a team with a strong running game. And JK Dobbins added more to it, including a game-winning TD. The way he burst into the end zone in the last quarter was hilarious.

But credit to Joe Burrow, who had a heck of a game throwing for 356 yards and three touchdowns. Obviously, the Bengals need to do a lot more to win games. The defense was clearly missing a punch. By the end of it, the Bolts’ defense was pretty heavy. This forced Joe Burrow to make hasty throws and miss Chase and Higgins several times.

It’s amazing to see how the Chargers blew a 21 point lead but still found a way to win the game.
