Some residents of Edgemere Avenue, Wah-ta-Wah Park asked to evacuate

Residents on Edgemere Avenue and Wah-ta-Wah Park were asked to evacuate Saturday as the Greenwood Lake wildfire approaches.

Officials say residents north of 42 Edgemere can evacuate in their personal vehicles. Residents from 32 to 42 Edgemere were provided transport by a Warwick Dial-a-Bus.

The evacuation site is Greenwood Lake Middle School located at 1247 Lakes Rd. Pets are welcome at the shelter.

Officials say they don’t want congestion in the area as more crews move in.

Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus told News 12 that “the wind picked up today, which didn’t help” and that the situation remains “fluid.”
