Holland vs. Hungary squads, expected starting 11, confirmed team news and injuries: Frenkie de Jong back but not ready for more games

The Netherlands will look to claim a place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League when they face Hungary in Amsterdam on Saturday.

Ronald Koeman’s side drew 1-1 with those opponents before losing to Group A3 winners Germany in October, meaning they begin this final doubleheader this month on points with Marco Rossi’s side.

A win would put the Oranje into the knockout stage ahead of their final group game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, but a win for Hungary would see them clinch second place and a chance to lift the trophy next March.

Sporting News looks at the predicted lineups and team news for this winner-takes-all contest.

Holland vs. Hungary lineups, predicted starting 11, team news

After three games without a win, the Netherlands are under heavy pressure to produce a better performance than they managed in October and take control of the race for second place in the group.

Koeman confirmed that on Friday Frenkie de Jong is not yet ready to play two games in quick succession, so it remains to be seen whether he will be risked from the start for what would be his first international in 14 months.

A decision must be made as to which of Brian Brobbey, Joshua Zirkzee and Wout Weghorst start as centre-forward. Captain Virgil van Dijk is available again after serving a match suspension.

Netherlands predicted line-up (4-2-3-1, right to left): Verbruggen (GK) — Dumfries, Van Dijk, De Vrij, J. Timber — Gravenberch, De Jong — Lang, Koopmeiners, Gakpo — Zirkzee

Damaged: Van de Ven, Schouten, Simons
Suspended: No

Rossi may well be tempted to stick with much the same side that drew 1-1 with the Netherlands in October, although Levente Szabo can push for a start in the attack after getting an initial call-up.

Bournemouth left back Milos Kerkez could also earn a place at left wing-back in support of Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai. Attila Fiola is disqualified due to accumulation of yellow cards.

Hungary predicted line-up (4-2-3-1, right to left): Dibusz (GK) — Botka, Orban, Dardai — Bolla, Nikitscher, Schafer, Kerkez — Szoboszlai, R. Sallai — Varga

Damaged: Thoth
Suspended: Fiola
