Conor McGregor deletes incredibly controversial tweet during Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight

Conor McGregor has come under fire for an incredibly insensitive, now-deleted tweet.

Paul defeated Tyson via unanimous decision in a very low-output fight.

Apart from a good opening round where Tyson landed a few nice left hooks, ‘Iron Mike’ looked a shadow of his former self in the ring.

It was to be expected as he recently celebrated his 58th birthday while his opponent is in his athletic prime at 27, but it was still a sad sight to see.

UFC dual-weight champion McGregor was among the millions of people who stayed up into the early hours of Saturday morning to watch the fight on Netflix.

And somehow he produced something even more controversial than the match itself, in the form of a distasteful tweet.

“Looking at Prichard Colon for next opponent,” McGregor wrote before quickly deleting his post.

Prichard Colon is a former super-welterweight boxer who was left in a vegetative state after suffering a life-changing brain hemorrhage in his 2015 fight with Terrel Williams.

Williams repeatedly hit Colon with illegal punches to the back of the head during their fight before the fight was waved off in the ninth round.

Colon had to be assisted to his dressing room, where he subsequently collapsed.

He was then taken to hospital via ambulance and went into a coma for 221 days after undergoing emergency brain surgery.

Colon has been in a persistent vegetative state ever since and is unable to speak due to his injuries.

McGregor’s tweet was completely uncalled for and received significant backlash on social media.

One fan wrote: “What a piece of shit.”

Another added: “This is crazy, this guy needs to be disciplined.”

A third tweeted: “You’re not kidding that Conor.”

A fourth posted: “Nah that’s a crazy tweet. Crossed the line.”

Meanwhile, another commented: “That’s f***ed. I know Conor could be f***ed sometimes but that’s just so stupid of him to say. Some people just don’t think. “
