Sylvester Stallone calls Donald Trump ‘the other George Washington’ in a bizarre speech

Sylvester Stallone pulls no punches when it comes to praising Donald Trump.

The Oscar-nominated actor attended the America First Policy Institute gala Thursday night at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, where he introduced the president-elect with a brief — and somewhat bizarre — speech that compared the political figure. to mythical entities and George Washington.

“When I did it RockyIf you remember, the first picture was a picture of Jesus and it says ‘Resurrection AC’ (on the wall). I found a church that had been converted into a boxing ring. The image pans down from Jesus to Rocky getting hit and in that moment he was the chosen one,” the 78-year-old told attendees from the stage. “That’s how I started the journey, something had to happen, this man had to go through a metamorphosis and change lives — just like President Trump.”

He went on to tell the audience that “we’re in the presence of a truly mythical character” regarding Trump, emphasizing, “I love mythology,” before praising Trump further.

“This person does not exist on this planet. No one in the world could have accomplished what we accomplished, so I’m in awe. I just want to say this, and I mean it, when George Washington was defending his country, he had no idea that he would change the world, because without him, could you imagine what the world would be like?” Stallone said, apparently referring to Trump’s election victory over Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris. “Guess what? We have the second George Washington. Congratulations!”

Stallone then clapped as he walked away from the podium and looked towards someone offstage to ask, “We good?” and then wave goodbye to the audience. He quickly returned to the microphone, though in the middle of several breaks.

“Please welcome the President of the United States, Donald Trump! Thank you!” Stallone finally said as Trump made his way to join Stallone on stage.

Stallone previously endorsed Trump ahead of the Nov. 5 election and even appeared in a pre-vote TV segment on conservative channel Fox News that saw a network host video chat Stallone as he approached the iconic Philadelphia steps, where Rocky was filmed.

He also told Black in 2016 that he admired Trump but remained cautious about his prospects as a politician. “I love Donald Trump,” he said at the time. “He’s a great Dickens character. You know what I mean? There are certain people like Arnold, Babe Ruth, who are larger than life. But I don’t know how that translates to running the world.”
