Ariana Grande Explains How She Laid ‘Saturday Night Live’ Sketches ‘Domingo’ and ‘Antonio’ ​​After They Go Viral

On Thursday, Grande, 31, appeared on The Tonight Show to promote Evil; However, host Jimmy Fallon couldn’t let the interview go by without mentioning her hilarious acting in the film Saturday Night Live (SNL) sketches “Domingo” and “Antonio” while hosting last month.

“You did a skit called ‘Domingo’ where you sang,” Fallon began, drawing laughter from the audience as they remembered. “Yes, everyone saw the sketch! It’s the most viral thing,” the cartoon continued.

Fallon then explained the sketch, which involved Grande singing an off-key version of Sabrina Carpenter’s hit “Espresso,” which he noted was a rare occurrence for the singer, who generally nails her vocals.

“You know, it was really fun,” the Dangerous woman the singer gushed about the sketch. “I really enjoyed it.”

Grande went on to detail how she came up with the idea SNL writers and it developed from there. “It was kind of what we found, like in the moment. I pitched it to writers Sudi (Green) and Jimmy (Fowlie), I said, ‘Would it be funnier if it got progressively worse as it went on?'”

“Wow, it was so good. I was like, ‘Oh, my God!’ I just wanted more,” Fallon boasted.

But her second skit seemed to win the night when Fallon brought up another piece in which she played a shy boy named Antonio whose parents, played by Maya Rudolph and Andy Samberg, admit to castrating him to keep his tall vote.

“But then I saw a character that I think I’ll never forget. Antonio,” the comedian said as he pulled out a photo of Grande dressed in character.

“I don’t know why, but this is my favorite thing I’ve ever seen,” Fallon boasted. “It’s so sweet, but also the funniest you were in character.”
