Whoopi Goldberg Claims NYC Bakery ‘Refused’ To Make Her Birthday Dessert Because Of Her ‘Politics’

A sweet moment soured.

Whoopi Goldberg has claimed that a NYC bakery refused to serve her because of her political beliefs — and the 145-year-old eatery has fired back.

In Wednesday’s episode of “The View”, Goldberg and co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Joy Behar and Sara Haines took a moment to celebrate her 69th birthday.

To mark the special occasion, the ladies indulged in some Charlotte Russe desserts, a New York specialty that the “Ghost” actress said was her mother’s favorite growing up.

But the sweet moment didn’t last as Goldberg claimed the bakery, which she chose not to name, refused to take her order because of her left-leaning political views.

The store was identified by Weekly entertainment like Holtermann’s Bakery on Staten Island, a family-owned spot beloved by locals.

“Now I have to tell you that Charlotte Russe has no political views and the place that made these refused to make them for me,” Goldberg said on the show, prompting strong reactions from the audience and her co-hosts.

“They said their furnaces had broken down, all kinds of things,” Goldberg claimed, “but people went and got them anyway, and that’s why I don’t tell you who made them.”

The “Sister Act” star added that her order wasn’t taken not because she’s a woman, but rather because “they didn’t like my politics.”

“But it’s okay because you know what? Look, it’s my mom’s celebration. Pick them up and celebrate with me and my mom. Thank you all for celebrating my birthday today,” she said.

It wasn’t long before the bakery’s owner, Jill Holtermann, denied Goldberg’s claim, telling Entertainment Weekly that “it wasn’t because of political” reasons, but because “we had problems with our boilers.”

“I told Whoopi, ‘I can’t do it right now,'” she told the broadcast. “‘We have so many things going on with my boiler,’ because the building is from 1930, so when she called me, I had no idea (if we could) bake everything.”

Holtermann said that when Goldberg ordered the sweets for the November 13 episode, the baker “didn’t want to make a commitment that I can’t fulfill” due to the technical difficulties the bakery was experiencing at the time. .

She confirmed that she ultimately made 50 treats, which were picked up at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, insisting the error had nothing to do with Goldberg’s politics.
