Taskmaster confirms cast for New Year’s special

Taskmaster has unveiled the cast for his New Year’s treat.

Hot on the heels of the season 18 finale, Little Alex Horne and Greg Davies return over the festive period with a whole new host of celebrities for a special episode.

The first celebrity contestant confirmed for New Year’s treat is This morning and Good morning Great Britain‘s money-saving expert Martin Lewis. The financial advisor has hosted ITVs The Martin Lewis Money Show since 2012.

Legendary footballer David James played for the England team between 1997 and 2010. The goalkeeper had a long Premier League career with outstanding performances for Liverpool, Aston Villa, Manchester City, West Ham United and Portsmouth.

The third celebrity contestant set to New Year’s treat will be legendary TV actress Sue Johnston, known for her roles in Kroningsgade, The Royle family and Downton Abbey. Throughout his esteemed career, Johnston has won a British Comedy Award and received a BAFTA TV Award nomination for Best Comedy Performance.

Melanie Blatt scored five UK number one singles and won two Brit Awards as a member of ’90s pop group All Saints. In recent years, she has competed at Famous Masterchef and Celebrity Race Across the World.

Rounding off New Year’s treat the cast will be mathematician and TV presenter Professor Hannah Fry, who has fronted the BBC’s The secret genius of modern life and Uncharted with Hannah Fry.

Transmission details for Taskmaster‘s New Year’s treat will be announced in due course.

Meanwhile, Taskmaster fans can enjoy more of the franchise every Friday night on Channel 4 with the kids-themed spin-off show Junior Taskmaster.

Rose Matafeo and her assistant Mike Wozniak oversee a tournament of junior contestants, with the winners of each week’s heat returning for a grand finale to crown the Season 1 champion.

Taskmaster Will return for his New Year’s treat this Christmas season Channel 4. Junior Taskmaster airs on Fridays on Channel 4.
