Police say the ‘Blue Bloods’ actress has been found, but the family claims otherwise

An actress who was reported missing by her family two weeks ago has thankfully been found safe but was apparently happy to be free from said family.

The missing person was Chanel Banks, who she said is best known for her roles in “Gossip Girl,” “Blue Bloods” and “Twelve.” IMDB page.

Her family filed a missing persons report with the Los Angeles Police Department after the actress disappeared from her apartment. But on Nov. 11, she was found in Texas, and according to authorities, there was no foul play involved.

“She’s fine,” LAPD spokesman Charles Miller said People magazine. “No danger. She’s okay. She’s been taken out of the missing person system for us and we’ve closed our investigation.”

No further details were available.

However, Banks’ family disagrees with the result and even slammed TMZ to report that the actress was found.

“TMZ REPORTS FAKE NEWS,” wrote her cousin, Danielle-Tori Singh. Facebook.

It all began when Singh, who flew to California to search for Banks, recently told Nexstar’s KTLA that she had not heard from Banks since late October. Banks’ mother, Judy Singh, also flew to LA from New York to help with the search.

When she discovered that Banks’ phone was dead and that her car and dog were still in her Playa Vista apartment, she contacted the police.

The family also launched one GoFundMe page that was organized by Singh to aid in the search effort.

But a series of stories sent to Banks’ personal Instagram account on Wednesday indicated that Banks is safe, even as she accused her family of abuse.

“Please don’t donate to any GoFundMe that says I’m missing,” one post reads. “I’m not missing.”

The Instagram account is verified and was created in April 2021. The account even features clips from “Gossip Girl” and snapshots with Banks’ husband, Carlos Jimenez.

“She had decided she didn’t want to talk to the family anymore because of past issues they had,” Jimenez recently told KTLA during a phone interview.

The posts that went up Wednesday indicated that she took a trip to Texas due to family issues. One post said Banks and her husband’s family pursued a conservatorship, prompting her to cease all communication.

Earlier, Los Angeles authorities confirmed to the news outlet that they were investigating the 36-year-old’s disappearance and conducted four separate welfare checks, all of which were unsuccessful.

While Banks is now considered found by authorities and is no longer on the list, the family does not believe this to be true and is under the impression that she is being released.

In one long video Singh said on Facebook that she had seen Texas police footage showing an altercation with someone authorities said was Banks. The woman appeared to be thinner than Banks and was wearing clothes the actress didn’t want, Singh said.

Singh said she does not believe the woman is her cousin because police identified the woman as having Banks’ New York driver’s license, which Singh said is a decade old and expired.

“Please don’t stop looking for my cousin,” Singh said.
