Girls Aloud addresses questions about the band’s future

Not only will Girls Aloud release the official 2024 Children in Need single, I’ll Stand By You (Sarah’s Version), in honor of their late bandmate Sarah Harding this Friday (November 15), but they’ve now asked questions to their future.

Asked if they are likely to tour together on The Girls Aloud Show: The Interview, which is streaming now on ITVX, Cheryl said:

“We’re breathing! One thing I’ve learned in my infinite wisdom, in my mature age, is that you really can never say never.”

“I don’t think we saw ourselves doing this tour,” Nicola added. “At one point we didn’t think we could see ourselves doing this.”

While host Ben Shephard pointed out that Cheryl had once claimed it would ‘never happen’, Nicola joked: “Cheryl says a lot of things!”

This comes as the group prepares to release I’ll Stand By You (Sarah’s Version); a brand new cut of their chart-topping 2004 Pretenders cover featuring Sarah Harding exclusively on lead vocals.

Girls Aloud announced the single last week:

“This year marks the 20th anniversary of our BBC Children in Need single I’ll Stand By You. To celebrate and honor our amazing Sarah, we are once again releasing a brand new studio version of the track in aid of BBC Children in Need .”

They added: “I’ll Stand By You (Sarah’s Version) features Sarah on lead vocals throughout using vocals we discovered in the box from the original recording sessions.

“Langen played a key role in our The Girls Aloud Show arena tour this summer and was an emotional moment for us all.”
