Kyrie Irving joins Luka Doncic on injury report before Mavericks-Jazz game

The Dallas Mavericks and Utah Jazz will square off Thursday night, but the Mavs received a troubling update before the game. Luka Doncic (right knee contusion) and PJ Washington (right knee sprain) were already among the Mavericks on the NBA injury report. However, Kyrie Irving was added to the injury report Thursday due to a sprained right shoulder.

The good news is that Dereck Lively II, who was previously dealing with a shoulder injury, was not listed on the injury report. Lively returned for the Mavs’ game on Tuesday against the Golden State Warriors.

Doncic was listed as probable for Tuesday’s game and was ultimately made available. Washington had doubts and ended up being disqualified. Irving’s addition to the injury report on Thursday gives the Mavs another early season injury concern.

Dallas currently has a 5-6 record. The Mavericks haven’t played up to their expectations in 2024-25, but injuries have been a big reason for their underperformance. So is Kyrie Irving playing tonight against the Jazz?
