Rachel Zegler issues a vile tirade against Donald Trump

Actress Rachel Zegler has given her unfiltered thoughts on President-elect Donald Trump, taking to Instagram to criticize the Republican after his election victory.

Zegler, who became famous in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story remake, co-star Romeo + Juliet on Broadway and has often been the target of social media users who are critical of her opinions.

On Wednesday, a user on X, formerly Twitter, posted screenshots of Zegler’s comments about Trump that the actor wrote in Instagram Stories. A story is designed to be deleted after 24 hours, so the posts are no longer available on Zegler’s account.

According to the screenshots, Zegler made the posts during the break of her show shortly after Trump’s victory, writing: “May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never rest.” Newsweek has reached out to a spokesperson for Zegler via email for comment.

“I find myself speechless in the midst of this. another four years of hate leaning towards a world I don’t want to live in,” Zegler wrote.

She continued: “I shouldn’t be so shocked. but I am. I’m devastated for my friends who woke up (in) fear this morning. and I’m here with you. to cry, to shout, to hug. to stay waxing poetic about how the left continues to fail us to forge a new path forward, this loss shouldn’t have been, and it certainly shouldn’t have been by so many votes.

In a follow-up post, Zegler said there was a “deep, deep sickness” in the United States, given how many people voted for a “man who threatens our democracy.”

She added: “It is frightening the number of people who stand behind what this man preaches. It is a foolish subscription to a false sense of security, masculinity, intelligence, patriotism and humanity. There is no help, no advice, in any of them I will not feel sorry.

Zegler also urged readers to stop using X, the social media platform owned by billionaire Elon Musk. Leading up to the election, the tech mogul campaigned for Trump, and on Wednesday the president-elect named Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy as heads of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency.

“I don’t use that app for a reason. He helped get that man elected and you’re giving him business,” Zegler wrote. In another post, she said she was going on stage for the second act of Romeo + Juliet and needed to “get off my soapbox before I get too hot.”

She ended the post: “Sending love to everyone who needs it today. May we all carry each other through the worst and hold these politicians accountable. Your governments just became very important! they already were but hey! follow your governors!” hold them accountable is where we will make real change.

“I’m going to love through these four years as best I can. f*** Donald Trump.”
