London will host the UK’s first ever TikTok Awards

If you’re wondering how the kids are doing with their SnapTok and Instabook, get started with the program. Because for those of you who thought that TikTok would be a fad, it has turned out to be the opposite. And after ‘brat’ became ‘japping’ and ‘delulu’ Collins Dictionary Word of the Year, this is all the proof we need that Gen Z is officially in charge and we should pay attention.

Next month, London will host the UK’s first ever TikTok Awards, celebrating the UK’s best creators on the app. The evening, which will be streamed live on TikTok from 8pm on Tuesday 3 December, will be hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race queen Michelle Visage, comedian Charley Marlowe and ‘professional yapper’ Sarel. In addition, there will be live performances from Sugababes, Bimini and rising TikTok star Leo Stay Trill. The location of the ceremony has not yet been revealed.

Categories of the awards include Creator of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Video of the Year, with creators such as Italian Bach, Ayame and James Doyle Fitness all shortlisted. There will also be prizes across food, beauty and fashion, sports, travel and more. You can see the entire shortlist online here.

If you want to join, you can vote for your favorite creators via the app.
