Coastal storms bring rain, wind and flooding

Meteorologist April Loveland’s first warning forecast

A coastal storm will affect the area on Thursday and bring some much needed rainfall. The first half of the day looks dry, with the chance of rain increasing later. We might even hear a rumble of thunder. Showers will continue into Friday morning, with drier conditions in the afternoon.

The wind will also be increasing. Gusts of 30-40 mph will be possible.

The wind combined with a full moon will cause tidal flooding, especially Friday morning at 8:00 a.m.

Coastal flooding will also be a problem along with sea over wash for the Outer Banks.

Overall, the system will bring some much needed rainfall to the area.

Temperatures will climb into the 60s Thursday and the upper 50s Friday.

The rain will clear just in time for the weekend! Highs will reach the low to mid 60s both days. Saturday will be sunny, while Sunday will have a bit more clouds.

Milder weather will move in Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the upper 60s under partly cloudy skies.
