Southeastern Wisconsin Weather: Rain on the way

An approaching low pressure system has generated scattered showers across the Great Plains this afternoon. Dry air limits initial precipitation in southern Wisconsin, but steady rain is expected after 1 p.m. 8pm across SE Wisconsin. Light to moderate rain continues overnight – driving totals up to half an inch. This much needed rainfall will help the ongoing drought in the area. Showers will taper off after sunrise Thursday. Overnight lows will only drop into the upper 40s given the extra cloud cover around.

Thursday and Friday there are still clouds overhead with a chance of sunshine. High temperatures will remain several degrees above normal — topping out in the lower and mid-50s through the weekend.

Outside of a stray shower early Sunday, the next best chance for precipitation comes late Monday into Tuesday. This next system appears quite dynamic. A major cold front may swing through the middle of next week. Storm Team 4 closely monitors developments in computer models. Stay tuned!
