Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns shoots free throws after monster night

Even after a game in which Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a season-high 46 points, the Knicks star was out on the court working on his free throws after the heartbreaking 124-123 loss to the Bulls.

Towns continued his stellar start to the season with an effort against Chicago that included grabbing 10 rebounds and shooting 18-for-30 from the field at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.

However, he missed four of his eight shots from the charity stripe.

That seemed to be enough for Towns to feel the need to work on his free throw after the loss, and he was seen in full uniform still on the court well after the teams had cleared the floor and fans had filed out the door.

As MSG reporter Monica McNutt stood courtside during the post-game show, Towns was seen with a Knicks employee firing foul shots while arena workers went about their duties in the background and an arena security guard stood watch.

Towns also finished the game with three assists and three steals.

“I expect to make them all,” Towns said after the game with his missed free throw. When you look back on the game, especially when you don’t come out with a win in a tough game like this, you look in the mirror at everything you could have done.

“If I make a couple of those free throws, at least two or three of them, you put your team in a different position.”

But his decision to work on his game, even after putting up 46 points, impressed many Knicks fans online, who were quick to praise the offseason acquisition for his commitment.

“I would legitimately die for Karl Anthony-Towns. He’s already the best player on the team. Playing in a Knicks jersey means something to him.” someone wrote on X.

“Remember when New Yorkers questioned whether Karl-Anthony Towns was built for the city? Who else did this after the game?” someone else wrote.

“Karl Anthony Towns is still on the MSG court shooting free throws. That’s what you love to see from your superstar player,” wrote a third user.
