The Golden State Warriors secured their eighth win of the season on Sunday, November 10, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 27-116. Sticking with his usual 12-man rotation, Steve Kerr tasked his team with playing at a high tempo and executing a grueling defensive intensity.

Speaking to the media after the game, Draymond Green praised Golden State’s strength in depth. The veteran forward credited the amount of options, lineups and combinations available to the coaching staff and emphasized how much of an improvement there is from last season.

“A lot of times when you talk about depth, you talk about how deep you can go, just the sheer amount of guys you can play,” Green said. “The main reason depth is important is because you remember last year, Steph (Curry) and Steve (Kerr) talked about the lineups. And about running out of options for the teams we can go to. This year is the total number. opposite If we need to go small, we can go small.

Kerr’s team has been diverse and unpredictable this season. The front office added several high-level role players over the summer. As such, the coaching staff has a plethora of options available to them on a nightly basis. Furthermore, this depth allows Kerr to keep everyone fresh, thus limiting the risk of injury or burnout for any of his key players.

That depth will be a key feature for the Warriors as the season progresses. It keeps the team fresh and makes it difficult to scout or predict. Eventually, Kerr will have to settle for his rotations and combinations, but with the talent at his disposal, he’ll always have the ability to throw out some curveballs. And it’s a big lift and change of direction from the roster we saw last season.
