Jonathan Bailey reunited with his ‘Bridgerton’ horse in ‘Wicked’

Jonathan Bailey reconnected with a Bridgerton co-star on the set of Eviland their “fantastic relationship” inspired the actor’s big foray into the film’s musical.

Recently featured on The Popcorn PodcastBailey discussed his character Fiyero Tigelaar’s first Evil scene where he dramatically dismounts from the horse. Host Tim Iffland said he was “honoured” by the “fabulous moment” and asked how it came about. In response, the actor revealed that he had worked with the horse Jack on Netflix Bridgerton and credited their inmate bond with making him “confident in going for gold.”

Saying that Jack “must get a special mention,” Bailey explained that he had “built a trust and a connection” with him on Bridgerton. “He is incredibly focused and can provide a very stable stage partner,” he added.

The actor also recently spoke about his relationship with the noble horse in a official Evil movie TikTok. “People say you don’t work with children and animals, but if it’s Jack, I’d say take the job,” he said. “He’s a legend.”

Bailey, who plays the handsome Lord Anthony in Bridgertonhas filmed with Jack throughout the show’s three seasons, i.a a memorable scene in season 2where he and his on-screen love interest, Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma, first met while out riding.

Bridgerton fans quickly caught on to Jack and Bailey’s Evil reunion. “I’ll use him to adopt the horse,” one fan joked on Reddit. “Awww! I love that he has a real connection with his horse,” commented another, while one user described their bond as “so freaking cute.”

Adapted from the original Broadway play and Gregory Maguire’s book of the same name, Evil tells the story of the green-skinned witch Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), who forms an unlikely friendship with her classmate Glinda (Ariana Grande) and ends up on a journey to become the Wicked Witch of the West. Jon M. Chu’s musical adaptation hits theaters on November 22, and alongside Bailey, Grande, and Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and Ethan Slater, among others, also star.

Later in his Popcorn podcast interview, Bailey was asked about some apparent Easter eggs in the Evil that connects the film to the original The Wizard of Ozwhich takes place in the same fictional universe.

“You click your heels,” host Iffland pointed out, referring to the character Dorothy Gale (played by Judy Garland), who famously clicks her heels together in The Wizard of Oz. “Is this potentially a nod to Dorothy throughout the film?” he asked, to which Bailey replied, “Of course there are so many Easter eggs.”
