Verizon Fio’s internet outages have affected millions of customers on the East Coast, causing significant disruption in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A map of user-reported problems shows that the affected area stretches about 300 miles from Philadelphia to Richmond, Virginia, according to the third-party website Down detectorwhich tracks service disruptions in real time.

“There is either an outage or network maintenance affecting your area. We don’t have the full details yet. Our apologies for the inconvenience this is causing,” Verizon responded to a user on X who asked about the outages.

“We are trying to get all the information from our network team so we can give you all an update.”

An X user in Maryland submitted an update from Verizon that repairs had begun at 10:50 PM EST Monday and that service was expected to be restored by 10:58 a.m. EST Tuesday.
