Trump picks South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem for Homeland Security

Donald Trump wiretaps the South Dakota governor Noem of Christ to lead the Department of Homeland Security, CNN said, picking a loyalist once seen as a potential vice presidential candidate for a job that includes securing the U.S. border and carrying out a promised mass deportation.

Noem wanted to join Tom HomanTrump’s picks for the White House “border czar” and Stephen Miller, an immigration hardliner, for the administration after the president-elect took office on Jan. 20, CNN said, citing two people familiar with the decision, and which it did not identify. However, unlike Homan and Miller, Noem’s position requires Senate confirmation.
