Arvin hosts Hometown Heroes Night and the inaugural Veterans Day Parade

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Veterans Day is still four days away, but the festivities have begun. Kern Veterans were guests of honor at the Hometown Heroes Night event in Arvin.

The city of Arvin hosted its first Veterans Day parade Thursday afternoon. Vets were invited to the Arvin Veterans Hall for the Hometown Heroes Night dinner.

The final ‘Art After Dark’ event of 2024 will take place in downtown Bakersfield

Vets were treated to a meal of live music, camaraderie and more. Organizers said it is the least they can do for those who bravely served the nation.

“Whether they were in combat or working in the back with the trash, as we used to say, everyone, every veteran took part in building this country, and it’s up to the citizens to thank them, especially the Vietnam veterans, who really never got that thank you, that welcome home,” said Armando Soliz with Honor Flight Kern County.
