Harris campaign senior adviser deletes X account after calling out Biden for ‘deep hole’ he left Dems in

A top adviser to Kamala Harris’s failed 2024 presidential campaign deleted her X account Thursday after appearing to blame President Biden and the “deep hole” he left Democrats for the vice president’s historic loss.

David Plouffe, who also managed former President Barack Obama’s successful 2008 campaign, made the veiled jab while praising Harris and the Harris-Walz campaign staff.

“It was a privilege to spend the last 100 days with @KamalaHarris and the amazing staff led by @jomalleydillon who left it all on the field for their country. We dug out of a deep hole, but not enough,” Plouffe, 57, wrote in the since-deleted X post.

“A devastating loss. Thanks for being in the arena, everyone.”

Plouffe’s account then disappeared early Thursday.

“Just taking a break as part of the revival in life and out of the campaign bunker,” he explained of the sudden online absence in a statement to Politico.

Plouffe’s remarks about a “deep hole” came as a host of Democrats had privately — and publicly — panned Biden for dropping out of the race so late in the game, suggesting it hindered Harris’ chances.

“We ran the best campaign we could, given that Joe Biden was president. Joe Biden is the singular reason Kamala Harris and the Democrats lost tonight,” said an aide to the vice president. told Politico.

Plouffehad joined the campaign after Harris took over the top of the ticket.

Amid speculation that Plouffe was taking a shot at the president, sources began to quietly lament his handling of the campaign.

Some insiders blamed veteran political strategist and fellow Obama campaign alum Stephanie Cutter for Harris’ failure.

The pair “tried an Obama play with a non-Obama candidate,” a source close to the Harris campaign told The Post. “They are the worst.”

A source close to Biden also ripped Plouffe as a “holy ass” and slammed the adviser’s “unproductive” social media posts.

“Joe Biden is the President of the United States and won without (Plouffe). He successfully beat Donald Trump – something (Plouffe) never did,” the source told Fox News.

Back in 2016, Plouffe claimed that now President-elect Donald Trump “must be thoroughly destroyed” and that “his kind must not rise again.”

During his time on the Harris-Walz campaign, Plouffe expressed cautious optimism that the vice president would prevail on election night, but repeatedly stressed that the race was a nail-biter.

“I really can’t speak to the public opinion polls. I spend very little time looking at them,” Plouffe told “Pod Red America,” a podcast comprised of former President Barack Obama alums, last month. “And most of them are horse-t.”

“Some of them might be close, but in general I would say any poll that shows Kamala Harris up 4 to 5 points in one of those seven (swing) states, ignore it. Any point that shows Donald Trump like that, ignore it.”

Plouffe also emphasized “how little the campaign matters” and argued that a well-run operation “can give you half a point or a point” boost.

The Harris-Walz campaign had similarly stressed that the 2024 contest would be deadlocked and could go either way. Plouffe had previously declared Harris could possibly present a sweep of the seven battleground states.

“We think we have momentum; we think we close well,” Plouffe told CNN on the eve of Election Day.

“We think we’re going to win more of the people who have made up their minds in the last week than Donald Trump. And there are still undecided voters, and we think we’re positioned to win them over.”

Ironically, Trump picked up all seven battleground states in an incredible swing state sweep.
